The Revenge Porn Helpline Report 2023
The insights provide an indication of the cases the Revenge Porn Helpline supported in 2023, including a significant rise in the number of reports. Overall, nearly 19,000 reports were made to the Helpline, a 106% increase in reports compared to 2022.

During 2022 the Revenge Porn Helpline saw a great increase in calls, with men and women becoming increasingly more likely to reach out the Helpline, making this gap shrink. Mirroring 2021, sextortion is still the most reported issue on the Helpline, though when content is shared this mostly affects women.

'Intimate image abuse, an evolving landscape'
The report focuses on Helpline data from 2015 to 2020, the purpose being two-fold: it aims to outline the trends reported to the Revenge Porn Helpline (RPH) by its clients and demonstrate the effectiveness of RPH in supporting victims.
Since RPH was founded, there has been no formal report on the developing challenges and trends seen by RPH. This report will analyse our five years’ experience of working in this sector, postulate what trends may be seen in the future and assess how policy and RPH need to adapt to support future victims effectively. This report will also demonstrate RPH’s ongoing success in supporting victims of IIA and in the removal of online content. These outcomes are paramount to RPH; supporting people who are isolated by this abuse, allowing violated victims to regain control of their images and rebuild their lives.

Maria Miller, Basingstoke MP gives opening remarks for the Revenge Porn Helpline report launch. She discusses the importance of this report as well as upcoming committees in the House of Commons. This session occurred at the first Revenge Porn Helpline report launch in Dec 2021. Due to the nature of the recording, there may be some sound issues.
