Happy New Year! My new workflow with clipping links via Notion is making it easier than ever to keep track of everything that I’m reading, so we have a giant Links List this week.
Shamelessly, I’m first going to plug the most recent episode of my podcast Trust in Tech, in which my co-host Talha and I chat about the future of the podcast, answer some listener questions about Trust & Safety, and play some AI-generated holiday/T&S-related games. Rolling Stone says the internet is about to get weird again. I certainly hope so! One of the things that I actually miss most about the old internet is being able to do internet searches and find strange personal blogs that lead to another oddball site, etc. That’s partially why I created Alice Links… I didn’t want to rely on LinkedIn and it’s algorithm for sharing what I’m passionate about.
Data & Society is organizing a Trust Issues Workshop: “We hope this workshop will appeal to scholars of trust and mistrust, anthropology, sociology, STS, media and communication, and law, with a special focus on Indigenous technologies, race and medicine, and the majority world.”
